Hello. When the laptop is turned on, the "Acer" screen is sometimes interrupted by two beeps. A screen with the following message comes up: "Phoenix TrustedCore(tm) NB Copyright 1985-2005 Phoenix Technologies Ltd. All Rights Reserved System BIOS Version: V2.00 VGA BIOS Version: ATI UMA V008.0501.017.18675 CPU0 =AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50 640K System RAM Passed 894M Extended RAM Passed 512 KB L2 Cache System BIOS shadowed Video BIOS shadowed Fixed Disk 0: HTSt2q2q2H9ATp0` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` Mouse initialized ERROR 0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0 Press to resume, to Setup" F1 displays the following: "Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 (build 802) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation For Realtek RTL8139(X)/8130/810X PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v2.13 (020326) PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM." F2 goes into the PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility. Interestingly, it seems that the position of the laptop seems to affect whether it will turn on or not. If the base is elevated slightly, it has no problems booting. This leads me to believe that there is indeed a loose part somewhere - I just don't know where. If Windows is allowed to boot, it ALWAYS goes into Chkdisk, which takes much longer than usual (around nine hours!) and generally does not find problems. Also, at random times, the computer BSODs with the KERNEL_INPAGE_DATA_ERROR. The Windows problems have been going on for about five months now, which is odd as we replaced the hard drive after a previous call to Acer support. The booting problems started in late July. Thank you.
